AuthorCollab is a writing platform built for indie fiction authors. We take your privacy seriously — especially when it comes to your manuscripts, characters, and creative work. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how you stay in control.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in through Google, we receive your name and email from Google's authentication service — nothing more.
We store the content you create on AuthorCollab: manuscripts, story bibles, chapter plans, character profiles, and other project data. This content is yours and exists on our servers solely to power the platform for you.
We collect basic usage information to keep the platform running smoothly: pages visited, features used, Ink consumption, and session timestamps. We do not track you across other websites.
Your data is stored on encrypted, US-based servers. We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication, and regular backups. Access to production data is restricted to essential personnel only.
Your manuscripts, characters, and project data are never used to train AI models. This is a core promise. When our AI tools process your writing — to draft, review, or check continuity — the text is sent to our AI providers strictly to generate your results. It is not stored by those providers for training, model improvement, or any other purpose.
AuthorCollab uses multiple AI providers (currently Claude, GPT-4o, and Gemini) to power the three-expert pipeline. When you run an AI tool, relevant portions of your project data are sent to these providers to generate results. Our agreements with these providers prohibit them from retaining or training on your data. No manuscript data is stored by AI providers after processing is complete.
We use session cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics that follow you around the web. Our cookies are strictly functional.
We do not sell your personal information or writing data to anyone. We share data only when:

We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and project content within 30 days. Backups may retain encrypted copies for up to 90 days, after which they are permanently purged.
AuthorCollab is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
